Marvel Studios are following the obvious plan of putting their top tier heroes in the cinemas, and bringing second tier heroes to television and on-demand streaming services.
From the sounds of it DC may not be following that path. Bleeding Cool reports that a series of lower-prominence DC comic books are looking to be turned into relatively lower budget movies.
“Suicide Squad” is specifically mentioned as requiring a pre-marketing budget of only $40 million, others could be done for as little as $20 million and include such characters as Booster Gold, Deathstroke and Team 7.
The aim would also be to do them not only cheap but fast, churning out two a year in both Spring and Fall – leaving the top tier DC heroes for the Summer season.
