DC’s “Creature Commandos” Series Cast Set

Warner Bros. Discovery

The full voice cast has been announced for DC Studios’ planned animated series “Creature Commandos” with co-chief James Gunn confirming a report from Collider that went up this morning.

The project marks the first effort within James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU timeline and will release in 2024, well ahead of Gunn’s own “Superman: Legacy” live-action film due out mid-2025.

The cast includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Sean Gunn as both G.I. Robot and Weasel, and Maria Bakalova as the new character Princess Ilana Rostovic.

Also onboard are Steve Agee and Viola Davis, reprising their “Peacemaker” & “The Suicide Squad” roles of John Economos and Amanda Waller, respectively. Gunn wrote all the episodes and says he is directing the primary actors initial recordings to get the voices right, but he is “not the director of the show”.

The project is a part of the DC Universe’s first phase called ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’ which so far spans ten titles including movies and TV series such as “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” “Swamp Thing” and more.

Gunn confirms some of cast “are already a part of live-action plans”, so their characters could show up in some of the other announced projects.
