Mackenzie Davis (“Terminator: Dark Fate”) and Himesh Patel (“Yesterday”) have scored the lead roles in the ten-episode limited series adaptation of Emily St. John Mandel’s novel “Station Eleven” for HBO Max.
The post-apocalyptic saga spans multiple timelines and tells the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding onto the best of what’s been lost.
Davis will star as Kirsten, a survivor of the pandemic who finds a new life as part of a post-apocalyptic Shakespeare troupe, and Patel will play Jeevan, an unemployed lost soul who must become a leader once the flu strikes.
“Maniac” creator Patrick Sommerville will write and executive produce while Hiro Murai (“Atlanta”) is set to direct. Scott Steindorff, Scott Delman and Dylan Russell will executive produce.
The project is one of several tied to the upcoming streaming service HBO Max announced today. Also on the way is the documentary feature “Expecting Amy” chronicling Amy Schumer’s journey through her pregnancy, and the addition of “Happy Endings” alum Casey Wilson to the comedy pilot “Delilah” about an estranged father-daughter duo (Michael McKean & Jessica Rothe).
