“Green Knight” and “A Ghost Story” filmmaker David Lowery has been revealed as one of the directors of the upcoming “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” series.
The series wrapped production a little while back, but much of the series remains shrouded in darkness beyond Jude Law’s casting and premise of a group of kids lost in the galaxy trying to find their way home in the New Republic era of “Star Wars” (same era as “The Mandalorian”).
Then came word earlier this month that Oscar-winning “Everything Everywhere All at Once” filmmakers The Daniels had helmed an episode last year.
Now, One Take News (via THR) broke the report of Lowery’s involvement. Lucasfilm has not officially responded or confirmed the news though.
Lowery certainly has plenty of experience with Disney, having helmed their “Pete’s Dragon” remake and the upcoming “Peter Pan and Wendy” film, which releases on the Disney+ service on April 28th.
He joins Tom Holland “Spider-Man” trilogy helmer Jon Watts who spearheaded the show, which is executive produced by “The Mandalorian” pair of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.
The news comes a week ahead of Star Wars Celebration in London with plenty of announcements expected – including a likely first reveal of the “Skeleton Crew” show which will air sometime later this year.
Lowery and A24 are in the midst of prepping his new film “Mother Mary” starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Co.
