“Darkwing Duck” Reboot In Development

Disney+ has begun early development of a reboot of the classic early 1990s animated series “Darkwing Duck”.

No writer is currently attached but the series will be executive produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee.

Running for three seasons and 91 episodes, the original series followed the titular duck superhero, voiced by Jim Cummings, who lived an ordinary suburban life under the secret identity of Drake Mallard.

He is assisted in his crime fighting by his sidekick and pilot Launchpad McQuack, a regular on “DuckTales”. He is also sometimes assisted by his adopted daughter, Gosalyn.

The character recently appeared in Disney’s “DuckTales” reboot in which his origin story is slightly retooled. No word if this will be a spin-off of that version of a whole new standalone take.
