AMC’s acclaimed Zahn McClarnon-led drama “Dark Winds” has reportedly more than doubled its first season viewership on the AMC+ streaming service.
Variety reports that according to AMC Networks, the series saw first week viewership for the new season’s first two episodes on AMC+ rise by 146% as compared with the first two episodes of the first season back in June 2022.
AMC Networks also indicates AMC+ subscriber acquisition is higher for the second season than the first, but wouldn’t provide specific numbers regarding streaming viewership. AMC Networks has a reported 11 million subscribers across its streaming services.
On the linear TV side, the series has seen a steady rise, with the first episode’s Live+3 average of 1.3 million total viewers having steadily risen to 1.8 million for the third episode, according to Nielsen.
The first three episodes are reportedly averaging 1.5 million total linear viewers, with the new season ranking at No. 8 among the top 10 cable dramas of the 2022-2023 broadcast season.
That number also puts it ahead of numerous other series like fellow AMC series such as “Interview With the Vampire” (940,000) and “The Mayfair Witches” (1.1 million) along with high-profile HBO series “The Last of Us” (1.24 million) and “Succession” (976,000).
