It’s a whole different kind of DC vs. Marvel as production has officially gotten underway on both HBO Max’s “The Batman” spin-off series “The Penguin,” and the Disney+ MCU-set series “Daredevil: Born Again”.
Colin Farrell has been photographed on set and back in make-up as Oswald ‘The Penguin’ Cobblepot who is donning a purple jacket this time out for the eight-episode “The Penguin” series which takes place shortly after the events of “The Batman”.
With the death of Carmine Falcone (Jon Turturro) and parts of Gotham City still somewhat flooded, a fight for control of Gotham’s underworld is underway as The Penguin, Carmine’s daughter Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti) and arrested mob boss Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) battle for control.
Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell co-star in the project with Craig Zobel (“Mare of Easttown”) directing the first two episodes and executive producing.
“Daredevil: Born Again” will consist of a massive eighteen episodes and will reportedly require around 254 days of filming with the shoot beginning today set to run across the rest of the year – ending on November 15th.
The series sees Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising the roles of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk respectively and set images of Cox at work have begun to pop up on social media. Michael Gandolfini, Sandrine Holt and Margarita Levieva co-star.
Kevin Feige, Matt Corman and Chris Ord serve as executive producers of the series which follows on from appearances by Cox in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and by D’Onofrio in “Hawkeye” and the upcoming “Echo”.
