“Daredevil: Born Again” S3 To Be Street-Level?

Marvel Studios’ “Daredevil: Born Again” is set to undergo some creative evolutions in the near future, according to showrunner Dario Scardapane.

In a recent interview with SFX (via Games Radar), he confirms the upcoming second season will wrap up the Mayor Wilson Fisk storyline ahead of a very different third season in 2027.

The second season will take place six months after the events of the first season, and Scardapane explains where things stand:

“The Fisk administration at this point has really taken hold. At the same time, there’s a bubbling up of an underground. New York is being transformed.

One of the things we’ve leaned into is that time has passed between the end of the Netflix show and the beginning of ours. We’re acknowledging that. These characters have matured; they’ve gone through life. And Jessica Jones, bourbon-swilling smartass – what’s it like for her to mature seven years?”

Though the second season was shot a year ago, some of the scenes with the anti-vigilante task force look like they “could be off the news” now he says, and “it’s weirding all of us out”.

With the third season, the series will move away from the political sphere and back to street-level Daredevil:

“As we finish up the Mayor Fisk run with season 2, as that storyline comes to its inevitable conclusion, what we’re doing going forward feels more like a return to the [Frank] Miller-era comics. So yeah, it was fun to play in the realm of politics, but I like something a little more street level, personally.”

Scardapane famously came in after production had begun on the first season and oversaw its retooling, leaving him a “cobbled-together Frankenstein” where really only the premiere and the finale were the show intended. That’s not the case with the second season as “we were able to really let it rip in a way we might not have been able to last season.”

“Daredevil: Born Again” returns with its second season on Disney+ on March 24th.
