Daniel Kaluuya has joined the voice cast of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” the upcoming sequel to the Oscar-winning animated feature “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”.
In the film Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is forced to reteam with Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a powerful villain.
Kaluuya will voice Hobart ‘Hobie’ Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk. A recent Marvel Comics creation, he’s a homeless teenager who becomes a hero to the oppressed citizens of New York in his dimensional universe.
Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez and Greta Lee all return from the first film, whilst Issa Rae, Rachel Dratch, Joma Taccone, Shea Whigham and Jason Schwartzman are among the newcomers.
Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers are directing the feature, which is set to hit cinemas on June 2nd 2023. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Christina Steinberg are producing. Lord and Miller will be credited as writers, along with David Callaham.
A recent report at The Cosmic Circus claims that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man from the MCU, and the Spider-Man from Insomniac Games’ best-selling 2018 PlayStation & PC title “Marvel’s Spider-Man” will have cameos.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is the second of a planned trilogy, with a third instalment “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse”, which is set to be released on March 29th 2024.
