“Rick and Morty” co-creator Dan Harmon has signed a broadcast network-only exclusive direct animation deal with Fox Entertainment – one that comes with a built-in series commitment.
Under the deal, Harmon will create and develop an animated comedy series targeted to premiere on the network in spring 2022. Fox Entertainment will produce the series, with Fox-owned Bento Box Entertainment serving as the animation studio.
Fox has upped its commitment to animation in recent years with seven prime-time animated series currently on the air.
Harmon also created and executive produced the popular live-action comedy series “Community” which has scored new life after recently being added to Netflix.
