Damon, Mangold Re-Team For “The Force”

Matt Damon has been set to star in “Logan” and “Ford v. Ferrari” helmer James Mangold’s “The Force” for 20th Century Studios and Disney.

Based on Don Winslow’s best-selling novel, the story centers on corrupt NYPD officers. Damon is attached to play detective Denny Malone who runs an elite crime fighting squad but becomes ensnared in a corruption scandal.

Fox acquired the rights to the work in 2016 and set it up with Ridley Scott to produce. David Mamet wrote the first script and Scott Frank has been working on the most recent version

Shane Salerno and Kevin Walsh are also producing. Mangold is also attached to direct Searchlight’s “Going Electric” which will star Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan.
