Damian Lewis is set to return to Showtime’s “Billions”.
After exiting at the end of the show’s fifth season and sitting out its sixth season entirely, Lewis’ famed character Bobby ‘Axe’ Axelrod will return to the series for half of the show’s seventh season.
In the new run, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends, and Bobby Axelrod returns as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.
The network announced the news late Monday, confirming Lewis will appear in six episodes of the new season’s twelve-episode run. The fifth season finale saw Axe jetting off to Switzerland to avoid prosecution in New York.
Doing so left the door open that Lewis could return if he chose. The new episodes are currently in production in New York, and news of Lewis’ return was already been leaked via paparazzi photos.
Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Condola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey, Daniel Breaker and Toney Goins co-star in the series with the new seaosn yet to set a release window.
The news follows reports earlier this year the company is looking at as many as four spin-off series in the works including “Millions,” “Trillions,” “Billions: London,” and “Billions: Miami”.
