Dakota Johnson is in negotiations to join actress/filmmaker Olivia Wilde’s psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” for New Line, joining a cast that includes Wilde herself along with Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf and Chris Pine.
The story is set in an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert and centers on a housewife who uncovers a disturbing truth about her seemingly perfect life. Pugh is leading the ensemble as the housewife but no other character details are available.
Before the pandemic, the project was eyeing a late spring start. No word as to when it will shoot now. BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Katie Silberman penned the screenplay based on a spec script by Shane and Carey Van Dyke. Roy Lee and Miri Yoon will produce with Wilde and Silberman.
