“Cyberpunk 2077” developer CD Projekt Red has issued an official apology to players who were disappointed with the game’s performance on last generation consoles like PS4 and Xbox One.
The most anticipated game title of 2020, the video game released last week and quickly came under fire for numerous bugs across all the versions, but mostly for how badly the game was performing on that older console hardware.
Things were not helped by the company only handing out PC copies to reviewers and game analysers just days before release, the one platform that’s having very few issues with the title so far. As a result, the first gameplay footage from the older consoles didn’t arrive until after the game launched.
Released on the company’s official site and through their social media channels, the statement offers an apology “for not showing the game on base last-gen consoles before it premiered and, in consequence, not allowing you to make a more informed decision about your purchase… We should have paid more attention to making it play better on PlayStation and Xbox One.”
The company promises to fix bugs and crashes to “improve the overall experience” following the first round of updates. A second round of updates will be released within the next week with more to come in January and February. All platforms, including PC, will keep getting updates to fix the bugs and performance issues.
