Jordan Buhat, Jedidiah Goodacre, Phoebe Miu and Lochlyn Munro have joined the horror-thriller “Margaux” currently filming in Vancouver. Steven C. Miller is directing from a script by Nick Waters and Chris Beyrooty.

The story revolves around a group of college friends who are terrorized by a smart house’s sinister AI during a weekend getaway. Richard Harmon, Madison Pettis and Vanessa Morgan co-star while Jamie Goehring and Brad Krevoy are producing. [Source: Deadline]

Emancipation
Ben Foster (“Hell or High Water”), Charmaine Bingwa (“The Good Fight”), Gilbert Owuor (“Mute”) and Mustafa Shakir (“Luke Cage”) have joined the cast of Antoine Fuqua’s thriller “Emancipation” at Apple Studios. Will Smith stars as a runaway slave who flees Louisiana in hopes of traveling north to freedom.

Foster stars as a ruthless runaway slave tracker, Bingwa as Smith’s beloved wife, Owuor as a fellow slave, and Shakir as a free man who also serves in the Union Army. Production began in early July in New Orleans. [Source: Variety]

Rockaway
Emmy winner Kerry Washington will star in and produce aa film adaptation of Diane Cardwell’s 2020 memoir “Rockaway” for Netflix. “Truth Be Told” creator Nichelle Tramble Spellman will pen the feature.

Washington plays a Manhattan-based journalist who unexpectedly discovers the transcendent power of surfing while on a routine assignment, and finds herself running from the comfortable life she’s always known toward a life of romance and self-discovery in eclectic Rockaway Beach. [Source: Variety]

Your Place or Mine
Ashton Kutcher will star opposite Reese Witherspoon in the Netflix romantic-comedy “Your Place or Mine” based on the script by Aline Brosh McKenna (“The Devil Wears Prada”). McKenna also makes her feature directorial debut.

The story follows two best friends who live on opposite coasts swap homes for a week and see their whole lives change. The casting comes hot on the heels of Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine company being acquired by Blackstone Group for a reported $900 million. [Source: Deadline]
