Brad Caleb Kane, the showrunner of A24 and Peacock’s upcoming “Friday the 13th” TV series reboot “Crystal Lake,” has teased a first look at a young Jason Voorhees in the series.
The behind-the-scenes image shows Jason, played by 12-year-old Callum Vinson (“Chucky”), from the back. However, that’s enough to confirm the make-up team is going with a look similar to those original films.
He also indicates that some further news is coming on Monday, hopefully a premiere date.
In an interview with EW in December, Kane indicated that the series is a “psychological thriller” and a “paranoid 1970s thriller” with “all of the DNA of a slasher without quite being a slasher”.
He adds: “There are rivers of blood in the show. There are very, I think, ingenious kill sequences and deaths and murders, but it’s all done in service of character and theme and place and time.”
Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees, a woman who had given up a singing career to raise a special needs child and takes a dark turn when she loses her son in a drowning incident.
The cast also includes Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch and Phoenix Parnevik.
