Cruise Films Aircraft Carrier Scenes For M:I-8

Paramount Pictures

Though the main UK shoot of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” reportedly wrapped back in December, Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie are still at it and were reportedly back out there filming this week.

Confirming Italian press reports from the other day, Apulia Film Commission chief Antonio Parente tells Variety that Cruise jetted into the Italian port city of Bari on Saturday and the following day hopped on a private helicopter to take him to film scenes for the eighth ‘Mission’ on a U.S. aircraft carrier.

Parente says the naval vessel was reportedly off the coast when Cruise boarded it and is now in the Adriatic Sea with Cruise filming scenes onboard before he jets out of Italy by the end of this week.

Parente says: “We are proud that [the] Apulia [region] has been chosen as the operational base for this rather complex shoot.” Cruise was previously in Italy to shoot portions of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” in both Venice and Rome. Most locations for the eighth film however have been kept under wraps.

Cruise spent much of the past year “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” and attended the 95th Annual Oscars Nominee Luncheon earlier this month.

“Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” is due in cinemas on July 14th this year with “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” set to hit June 2024.
