Cronenberg Pops Up In “Star Trek: Discovery”

Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg hasn’t made a film in six years, but recently he’s been popping up in acting capacity again. Along with a starring role in 2017’s “Alias Grace” mini-series, he appeared in indie “Disappearance at Clifton Hill” and as a proctologist in Viggo Mortensen’s directorial debut “Falling”.

Now, the celebrated “The Fly,” “A History of Violence” and “Videodrome” director has been spotted out in the wild again – this time in a promo for next week’s fifth episode of the third season of “Star Trek: Discovery”.

The brief appearance, he only appears in one shot which you can see above, suggests it’s merely a cameo with “The Mummy” actor Oded Fehr serving as the episode’s main guest star. Cronenberg has no real link to the Trek franchise so the random appearance is a nice surprise and makes one wonder where he’ll show up next.
