Universal Pictures has released its “Trolls World Tour” film on Premium VOD this week, the animated sequel having its world premiere on services like iTunes and Amazon where it has become the first real major release to debut in a potential ‘new norm’ format.
Many eyes are watching the film’s success and seeing how it performs, though one interesting metric has already arisen. Rotten Tomatoes reports that critics have taken slightly more of a shine to the film than audiences have. The film has pulled in a 74% (6.19/10) with critics, decidedly higher than the 64% and score handed out by more regular audiences on the same site.
Users were more favorable over at Metacritic where the film sits at 52/100 with critics and a 7.7/10 with audiences. It’s not clear how many people have tuned in so far to the film, but the movie is already sitting atop of the iTunes movie rental charts this week.
