After many years of collaborations, filmmaker Wes Anderson and The Criterion Collection are teaming up for a new 4K UHD boxset – “The Wes Anderson Archive In 4K: Ten Films, Twenty-Five Years”.
This box set of director-approved 4K restorations features the first ten films in his filmography spanning 1996 to 2021 including “Bottle Rocket,” “Rushmore,” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou,” “The Darjeeling Limited,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Isle of Dogs,” and “The French Dispatch”.
The only films not included are 2023’s “Asteroid City,” last year’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More” collection, and the about to open “The Phoenician Scheme”. None of those have separate Criterion releases.
The twenty-disc collector’s set includes new 4K masters of the films on 4K UHD and Blu-Ray copies of the films, along with over twenty-five hours of special features, and ten illustrated books – all presented in a deluxe clothbound edition.
Many of the titles have already been issued separately on Blu-ray but a few of them these days are only available through the Criterion official site and can be hard to find – making the 4K box-set the definitive way to own Anderson’s work at home.
The box-set will be released sometime in September.
