After more than a century as an art supply company famed for its colorful Crayons, Crayola is getting into filmmaking. The company is launching a studio division that will produce multigenre content for kids and families.
This new division has already teamed with production companies and animation studios to build a content slate themed around color and children’s creativity.
Several projects are already in development, the first being ab animated adaptation of Gen-Z Media’s award-winning podcast and book series “The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian”. Brad Birch pens the show with MIMO Studios also onboard.
Victoria Lozano, Crayola’s executive vp marketing who is heading up the division, said in a statement:
“As world leaders in creative self-expression, the establishment of Crayola Studios is a logical next step for us [and] builds on plans announced last year to develop entertainment content that inspires and nurtures the next generation and helps them develop lifelong creative mindsets. Our unique perspective offers an exciting opportunity for the industry as it searches for stand out new and trusted content that has creativity at its heart.”
“Finn Caspian” is a sci-fi adventure that follows the 8-year-old Finn Caspian, who teams up with friends while aboard the Marlowe 280 Interplanetary Exploratory Space Station. The kids explore uncharted planets, assist aliens and solve a mystery.
