Kevin Costner will not be returning to “Yellowstone” after the current fifth season ends, according to ET Online.
The outlet reports that there is still no update on when the cast and crew are going to return to Montana to finish shooting the remaining episodes of the show’s fifth season – leading to confusion and frustration among the cast.
Reports emerged back in February of alleged turmoil between series star Costner and the show’s co-creator Taylor Sheridan over the actor’s filming commitments to the remaining episodes of the current season.
At the time, a spokesperson for Paramount Network said “Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come.” Costner’s attorney, Marty Singer, fired back at the allegations with a statement calling the claims of Costner only willing to work one week on the second half of season 5 “an absolute lie”.
Still, the turmoil seemed to manifest when much of the cast were no-shows at a previously announced panel at PaleyFest in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, a once-rumoured spinoff series starring Matthew McConaughey and bringing in much of the core “Yellowstone” cast (aside from Costner) is officially moving forward at Paramount Network.
The news comes as it was revealed yesterday that Costner’s wife of more than 18 years, Christine Costner, has filed for divorce.
