Just weeks before his death at age 59 this week, the late rapper Coolio reportedly recorded lines for the upcoming “Futurama” revival at Hulu.
Series executive producer David X. Cohen has revealed to TMZ that the “Gangsta’s Paradise” singer reprised his role as Kwanzaa-bot for the revival, and even recorded some new music as the character.
In the series Kwanzaa-bot was a counterpart to Robot Santa and the Chanukah Zombie, annually flying around the world distributing the book “What the Hell is Kwanza”. He appeared in two episodes of the original run and the “Bender’s Big Score” film.
Cohen adds that the episode in which Coolio appears will be dedicated to him. The “Futurama” revival has a twenty-episode order with the original cast all returning. It is currently in production.
