Connelly, de Armas Team For “Safe Houses”

Apple TV

Jennifer Connelly and Ana de Armas are in negotiations to star together in “Homeland” scribe Gideon Raff’s new spy series “Safe Houses” set up at Apple.

The eight-episode series is based on international espionage thriller novel by Dan Fesperman and begins in the wake of the killing of a high-ranking CIA officer in Madrid.

de Armas plays Sofia Jiménez, a fugitive agent accused of the crime. Connelly plays Ambassador Elizabeth Winthrop, widow of the slain man, as they each investigate the murder from opposite sides.

In the process, they unravel a vast conspiracy that could upend the balance of global power. Wiip and Apple Studios are backing the project which has Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) set to direct the opening block.

Raff, who serves as showrunner, will also direct several additional episodes and serve as executive producer alongside Alexandra Milchan, Paul Lee and David Flynn.

de Armas was most recently in the “John Wick” spin-off “Ballerina” while Connelly previously worked with Apple TV on “Dark Matter”.
