HBO Max is reportedly moving forward with a TV series based on its “The Conjuring” franchise, the project first announced as being in development back in 2023.
Variety reports that Nancy Won (“Sunny,” “Little Fires Everywhere”) has boarded the project and will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Plot specifics are under wraps.
Also, Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires are attached to write on the series with Peter Safran executive producing and James Wan’s Atomic Monster producing.
That’s not all though as Puck News is reporting that the film’s studio New Line is already planning a potential prequel film – one which may or may not have Wan involved.
The article also claims Wan wants to be paid more for his producing services with Warners and there is disagreement at the moment with Wan threatening to walk away from the project.
The news comes as “The Conjuring: Last Rites” premiered in cinemas on Friday to a massive weekend with nearly $200 million grossed globally by yesterday.
