HBO Max and Cartoon Network have announced the currently in production family-oriented animated special “Chelm: The Smartest Place on Earth”.
Oscar nominee Sacha Baron Cohen is teaming with “King of the Hill” creator Mike Judge, “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman and “The Office” producer Greg Daniels on the project which hails from their Bandera Entertainment label. Cohen will narrate the work.
The special unfolds in Chelm, the mythical ‘Town of Fools’ of Jewish folklore. With absurdist humor and interpretive questioning, this offers a fresh take on the silly antics and exaggerated conflicts of the town whilst preserving the essence and heart of the classic folktales.
Cohen, Daniels, and Judge are developing the story with Koman, who is also attached to write. The four will executive produce along with Dustin Davis.
The special does not have an air date as yet.
