A sixth scripted series in “The Walking Dead” franchise has been announced with returning actors Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan to headline the series titled “Isle of the Dead”.
The pair will reprise their respective roles of Maggie and Negan as the two characters travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland – it’s now a crumbling city filled with the dead who have made New York City their own world.
Eli Jorne serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the new series while Cohan and Morgan will also executive produce. “Isle of the Dead” is expected to debut in AMC and AMC Plus in 2023.
The show follows on from the main series “The Walking Dead” which airs its final episodes later this year, along with the still going “Fear the Walking Dead,” the two-season “The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” the anthology series “Tales of the Walking Dead,” and an untitled spin-off centered on Daryl and Carol’s characters.
