“Cliffhanger,” “Wire,” “Poetic” Set 2026 Dates

Smaller distributor Row K Entertainment has announced its 2026 theatrical slate, locking in dates for new films from directors like Gus Van Sant, Maude apatow and Jaume Collet-Serra.

The most high-profile title on the docket is Collet-Serra’s “Cliffhanger,” a reimagining of the 1993 Sylvester Stallone-led mountain climbing action classic which will open nationwide on August 28th 2026.

In the new take, described as more of a survival thriller, Pierce Brosnan plays veteran mountaineer Ray Cooper and Lily James as his daughter Naomi. Together they must outwit kidnappers amid the treacherous peaks of the Dolomites.

The first film on the list will be Van Sant’s “Dead Man’s Wire” which opens in a limited release on January 9th 2026 with a wide release on January 16th. The title will also get an awards qualifying run starting December 12th.

Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery, Cary Elwes, Colman Domingo, Myha’la and Al Pacino star in the film which scored rave reviews out of the Toronto Film Festival. It deals with the 1977 Indianapolis hostage crisis that turned would-be entrepreneur Tony Kiritsis into an accidental outlaw folk hero.

Then there’s Maude Apatow’s “Poetic License” which opens May 15th 2026. Leslie Mann, Cooper Hoffman, and Andrew Barth Feldman lead the coming-of-age drama about a former therapist and soon-to-be empty nester whose relocation to a new town sparks an unsettling connection with two inseparable college seniors whose admiration blurs into obsession.

The final film will be Tom Dean and Mac Eldridge’s “Charlie Harper” starring Nick Robinson and Emilia Jones as lovers growing up and apart in their early twenties. It will open nationwide on September 25th 2026.
