Back in December, Jackie Chan announced at the Red Sea International Film Festival that a fourth “Rush Hour” was officially in development.
At the time he said they were “talking about Rush Hour 4 right now” and he was to meet with the film’s director later that night to work on the script.
No official details on the project have been announced meaning Chan’s tease was the only news we had that one was on the way. Now Chan’s co-star Chris Tucker has revealed he’s keen to return to the franchise as well.
Speaking to Audacy’s V-103 whilst out on press rounds for his role in the Ben Affleck-directed Nike film “Air,” he spoke about his upcoming projects and brought up “Rush Hour 4”:
“You’re going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it’s going to be on a whole other level. That’s what I like…I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen…’Rush Hour 4,’ that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie, but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it.”
Chan and Tucker starred in the three prior films made between 1998 and 2007. They followed a Hong Kong detective inspector who forms an unlikely relationship with a loudmouthed LAPD officer to solve a series of international crimes.
A potential fourth film in the series has been discussed for many years but has never really progressed. Part of the stall is that the three films were directed by Brett Ratner, who was accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by several women in the years since “Rush Hour 3”. Warner Bros. Pictures, who owns “Rush Hour” distributor New Line, has severed all ties with Ratner.
