Chris Rock Live Special Gets Pre & Post Shows

Netflix

Ahead of its first-ever live global streaming event, Netflix has recruited a bunch of comedians to help out with the event which centers around the stand-up special “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage”.

For the main event, Rock will go live from a Baltimore, Maryland, stage at 7pm US-PT/10pm US-ET on March 4th. There he is expected to do the same material he’s been doing on his “Chris Rock Ego Death World Tour,” including jokes about being slapped by Will Smith at last year’s Oscars.

Now adding to that, the streamer will do pre and post-special shows. The former, titled “The Show Before the Show,” will be hosted by Ronny Chieng with the likes of Arsenio Hall, Deon Cole and Leslie Jones to appear. It begins at 6:30pm and is being taped at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles.

Then comes “The Show After the Show” which will be hosed by David Spade and Dana Carvey and will boast guests like JB Smoove and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. In addition video messages from the likes of Amy Schumer, Jerry Seinfeld, Cedric the Entertainer, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes, Ice-T and Sir Paul McCartney will be played.

To make things more of an event – the pre and post-shows will only be available live and won’t remain available to stream after their airing. Rock’s special itself on the other hand will remain available to stream.

Netflix has quickly been building a library of stand-up specials featuring the likes of Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Rock, Schumer and more. The hugely successful in-person event ‘Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival’ held last spring sold more than 260,000 tickets.
