Chiwetel Ejiofor Joins “Venom 3”

Marvel

He’s already Baron Mordo in the “Doctor Strange” films in the main MCU at Disney. Now, Chiwetel Ejiofor is joining the other Marvel universe over at Sony.

Ejiofor has reportedly closed a deal to co-star opposite Tom Hardy in “Venom 3”. Hardy is set to return as Eddie Brock/Venom in the film, which will also have “Ted Lasso” star Juno Temple in a key role.

However, plot details are unknown, and details of any of the new characters are under wraps. Similarly, it’s not clear what characters within the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SPUMC) will be joining them or if there are any other returnees, such as Michelle Williams.

Longtime writer of the franchise Kelly Marcel will take over the directing reins for this outing and wrote the script from a story she created with Hardy. Both will produce alongside Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker.

The first two films grossed a combined $1.36 billion worldwide. At last report, filming on the third entry was expected to run from June to September this year in the UK – whether that’s still the case with the strike disruptions isn’t clear.

Ejiofor will next be seen in “The Pod Generation,” “Rob Peace,” and “The Old Guard” sequel.
