Out promoting her new novel “I’m No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts,” stage legend and screen actress Kristin Chenoweth has revealed details and regrets about an on-set accident on CBS’ “The Good Wife” a decade ago.
The Emmy and Tony award-winner of shows like “Pushing Daisies,” “GCB,” “Glee,” “American Gods” and “Schmigadoon!” made an appearance on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” this week and was asked if she had heard from the network after the release of her book to which she said no.
She then said she regretted not legally pursuing it further at the time, saying: “I didn’t do it out of fear and anxiety, so don’t ever let fear rule your life. I have long-standing injuries from that. I wished I had listened to my dad, who said, ‘You’re gonna wanna do this’.”
She went on to talk about the injuries she sustained whilst on-location shooting an episode of the fourth season of the acclaimed legal drama series. She says she was struck by a piece of lighting equipment and was hospitalized – but it turns out it was more serious than previously reported:
“I heard, like, a flagpole sound. I literally heard, ‘We’re losing the light.’ I heard, ‘Action.’ And I woke up at Bellevue [Hospital]. It hit me in the face and it threw me into a curb. Seven-inch skull fracture, hairline [fracture], and teeth and ribs.
My hair extensions, you know, made the hairline fracture go together. My doctor said, ‘What are these metal things?’ And I said, ‘They’re hair extensions.’ And he said, ‘They saved your life’. So, anyone who wants to get hair extensions should, for your health.”
Due to her injuries, Chenoweth was not able to complete her story arc on the primetime drama and didn’t return. She most recently appeared in “Bros” as herself.
