Hidden Pictures, Underground, and Five All in the Fifth Entertainment are teaming up with iconic comedy pioneers Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong for a biopic about the duo.
The pair rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, becoming symbols of stoner culture and heroes of counterculture along with producing successful standup shows, albums and successful low-budget features – most famously “Up in Smoke”.
Hot off the SXSW premiere of his debut film “If You Were Last”, Kristian Mercado has been set to direct from a screenplay by Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan.
Todd Lieberman, Trevor Engelson, Douglas Banker and Alex Young will produce. David Glickman, Marin and Chong will executive produce.
