After spending many years stuck in development (initially as a film), the Apple TV+ series screen adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’ 2003 novel “Shantaram” is finally on the way with an October 14th premiere date.
The first three episodes will be released on that date, followed by weekly new episodes through December 16th. A first-look photo of the show’s star Charlie Hunnam in the series has also been released.
Hunnam plays an Australian bank-robbing fugitive named Lin Ford who aims to get lost in vibrant and chaotic Bombay in the 1980s. Alone in an unfamiliar city, he struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from in this new place.
After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla (Antonia Desplat), Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.
Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Alyy Khan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph, and Shiv Palekar co-star.
