Timothée Chalamet has been pretty much everywhere the past few weeks, thanks to his turning up at the Venice Film Festival to promote Luca Guadagnino’s cannibal coming-of-age story “Bones and All”.
He is currently back at work on Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” but one project he shot before that was “Paddington” director Paul King’s new movie musical “Wonka”.
The origin story follows Roald Dahl’s eccentric chocolate factory owner in his younger days. Talking with British Vogue, Chalamet says he has seven musical numbers in the film.
He’s also aware of how he’s become a meme after photos of his character went around online: “You know what’s really funny about that is it’s so misleading. The movie is so sincere, it’s so joyous.”
Chalamet also revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio gave him one good bit of career advice: “No hard drugs and no superhero movies.” Chalamet made history with the article, becoming the first man to have a solo cover on British Vogue – a magazine that has been operating for over a century.
“Wonka” is slated for release December 15th 2023.
