Chalamet Goes On A “Last Adventure”?

Warner Bros. Pictures

A new listing in Production Weekly (via World of Reel) claims that Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet will star in “The Last Adventure” at Netflix.

The project is a remake of Robert Enrico’s 1967 French-Italian film and hails from German-Austrian filmmaker Edward Berger who directed Netflix’s Oscar-nominated and acclaimed “All Quiet on the Western Front” film.

The story follows a down-on-his luck adventurer who sails around the world in search of a missing ship full of treasure from the Iraq War.

That’s a shift from the original film with a trio of characters seeking the fortune from within a crashed plane off the coast of Africa, only to find themselves pursued by mercenaries after the treasure.

Alain Delon, Lino Venture, and Joanna Shimkus starred in the original film based on José Giovanni’s novel. There are no further details about what this particular adaptation plans to do.

None of the trades has reported Chalamet’s casting as yet, so for now the report is considered a rumor.

Chalamet previously worked with Netflix on films “The King” and “Don’t Look Up”. He’ll be seen later this year in “Dune: Part Two” and “Wonka” both at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Berger will shortly be premiering his British thriller “Conclave” starring Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci, and Isabella Rossellini.

Update: The CinemaHolic spoke with Chalamet’s reps and “were told in clear terms that Timothée is not involved in Edward Berger’s film. In fact, he is not even in the early stages of discussions about starring in the movie.”
