CBS Still Aiming For New TV In The Fall

In spite of the ongoing production shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic, CBS has unveiled its Fall TV schedule and appears to be bringing back the vast majority of its scripted lineup.

CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl says they are hopeful that they can go into production at some point this summer and have most, if not all of their shows, on at some point in the Fall.

That marks a change from both Fox and The CW who have pushed most of their shows to early 2021 debuts and are using various stop gap measures this Fall in the event that full-scale production is unable to resume. NBC is also said to be potentially acquiring international series and less watched U.S. shows to fill in their gaps.

Kahl hasn’t ruled out that possibility, saying the recent merger between Viacom and CBS has widened these options as well.

For now, CBS’ line-up remains largely unchanged beyond some timeslot changes. Three new series are joining the action – Chuck Lorre comedy “B Positive” on Thursdays, the Queen Latifah-led “The Equalizer” on Sundays, and the “Silence of the Lambs” sequel series “Clarice”. That is being held until mid-season along with “SWAT” and “Undercover Boss”.
