CBS is planning a new take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mystery franchise with a new series set to focus on Sherlock Holmes’ trusty companion Dr. Watson.
The project hails from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and CBS Studios and is dubbed a “medical drama with detective elements”. Craig Sweeny, who worked for five years on CBS’ “Elementary, is penning the project which is in development.
The story begins with Watson, a year after the death of his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty, resuming his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story.
Sweeny, Aaron Kaplan, Brian Morewitz and Shäron Moalem will executive produce.
