ViacomCBS is planning a major overhaul of its CBS All Access streaming video on demand service in early 2021 with a rebranding and bulking up of its library thanks to the reunification of the previously separated entities.
Today they’ve laid the first groundwork for that expansion, the service adding 70 shows consisting of over 3,500 episodes from legacy Viacom cable networks like BET, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon. In addition the service will also roll out a new user interface across major device platforms from today, small updates ahead of a major look overhaul early next year.
This boosts CBS All Access count to more than 20,000 TV episodes and movies, a number they plan to push above 30,000 by the time it relaunches. The new content will be available starting Thursday and includes:
– “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (All Seasons)
– “Chappelle’s Show” (All Seasons)
– “Hit the Floor” (All Seasons)
– “Hot in Cleveland” (All Seasons)
– “Jersey Show: Family Vacation” (All Prior Seasons)
– “Laguna Beach” (All Seasons)
– “The Legend of Korra” (Select Seasons)
– “MTV Floribama Shore” (All Prior Seasons)
– “Real Husbands of Hollywood” (All Seasons)
– “Reno 911!”” (6 Seasons)
– “Rugrats” (All Seasons)
– “RuPaul’s Drag Race” (All Prior Seasons)
– “Single Ladies” (All Prior Seasons)
– “Snooki & Jwoww” (All Seasons)
– “SpongeBob SquarePants” (All Prior Seasons)
– “Strangers with Candy” (All Seasons)
– “Teen Mom 2” (All Prior Seasons)
CBS is also planning to premiere new original kids series “Kamp Koral,” a spin-off of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” in early 2021 while its high-profile Stephen King adaptation “The Stand” launches late 2020. Service pricing is expected to remain the same even with the rebranding – $5.99 per month with ads and $9.99 without.
The renamed subscription service will also be split off from the CBS app on most platforms and work as a standalone app – akin to how Peacock and NBC are separate apps on media players. ViacomCBS will continue to maintain its Showtime standalone streaming product and the Noggin subscription service separately from the new CBS All Access.
CBS All Access and Showtime streaming services combined have 13.5 million subscribers and are track to hit 16 million by the end of 2020.
