Cavill Won’t Be Returning To “The Witcher”

Netflix

He’s officially out as Superman, but Henry Cavill will not be returning to his other signature role of late – Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s “The Witcher”.

Variety has confirmed that the fourth season of the fantasy series is moving forward unchanged with Liam Hemsworth still in place to take over the role of Geralt.

Cavill played the part for three seasons and confirmed his exit in October, shortly after announcing his return as Superman. His run as Superman ended when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios in November and announced a new Gunn-scripted Superman movie that will not star Cavill because it focuses on a younger version of Clark Kent.

There was speculation Cavill would return to “The Witcher”, but that’s not the case either. “Witcher” fans have been upset since Cavill announced his exit, but the departure was amicable and was said to be Cavill’s choice.

Though Cavill has several projects in the works, social media chatter has already turned towards hoping the 39-year-old actor will take over the role of James Bond. Cavill was one of the final contenders for the Bond role in “Casino Royale” but was considered too young at the time.

The concern now is he may be too old as the franchise’s producers have previously discussed wanting to bring on someone in their early thirties to take on the role, as whoever signs is expected to stay in the role for a decade.
