Cavill-Led Spy Thriller “Argylle” Sets Release

Apple Original Films

Over a year after the first photos were released of Henry Cavill’s rather wild 1980s Dan Aykroyd-style haircut in Matthew Vaughn’s spy thriller “Argylle” were revealed, the film has finally set a release date.

Apple Original Films has announced that the film will open in cinemas on February 2nd 2024, with an exclusive global theatrical release with Universal Pictures to distribute for them.

Jason Fuchs penned the script for the film, which is based on an as-yet unpublished novel from a first-time writer called Elly Conway, though there’s apparently some genuine mystery about the book and its author.

Vaughn previously said of the film: “Argylle is quite specific and different. So weirdly, it lends itself to a whole new way of being released”.

Plot specifics for the film remain under wraps but Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose and Samuel L. Jackson co-star.

“Kingsman” helmer Vaughn produces through his MARV banner. Adam Bohling, David Reid and Fuchs also produce.

It marks the third high-profile feature Apple has opted to grant a theatrical window to recently ahead of its streaming debut – the other two being Ridley Scott’s Napoleon” which Sony will release this Thanksgiving and Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” which Paramount will release October 6th.
