Cavill In Talks To Return As Superman

Henry Cavill is in talks to portray Clark Kent/Superman once again, two years after departing the role. Cavill last played the part in 2017’s “Justice League”

The extent of his return has not been disclosed, so it’s not clear if it is for future films, but apparently Cavill “could come back in a couple of different ways” but “not a standalone film”. That shoots down a possible “Man of Steel” sequel, but will fan the flames of additional filming rumors for “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” even as HBO Max has made it clear they’re not doing reshoots.

Cavill played the role in three films spanning 2013’s “Man of Steel,” 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and 2017’s “Justice League” where reshoots and a CG blurred out moustache on Cavill became a cultural joke.

What Cavill might do isn’t clear. “Wonder Woman 1984” and “The Suicide Squad” have completed filming, and “The Batman” has no plans for a Superman inclusion. That leaves either the “Black Adam” or “Shazam” sequels.

Cavill currently stars in Netflix’s “The Witcher” and plays the role of Geralt of Rivia. That series was partway through production on a second season when the coronavirus pandemic shut it down.
