The Book Of Clarence
Hot off his directorial debut with the Netflix Black western “The Harder They Fall,” filmmaker Jeymes Samuel will re-team with that film’s Lakeith Stanfield for the Biblical epic “The Book Of Clarence”.  Stanfield takes on the title role in the story set in 29 AD and reportedly sees cinematic epics like “Ben Hur” and “The Ten Commandments” as influences. [Source: Deadline]

“Daria” spin-off series “Jodie” has been reimagined as an animated film rather than a series as originally announced.  Tracee Ellis Ross will voice the title role of Daria’s high school friend who works as an intern for the prestigious tech firm.  Pamela Adlon, Cole Escola, Jojo T. Gibbs, William Jackson Harper and Zosia Mamet co-star. [Source: Variety]
Bupkis
Edie Falco (“The Sopranos,” “Nurse Jackie”) has been cast as the mother of Pete Davidson’s character in the upcoming Peacock comedy series “Bupkis”.  The series is described as a heightened, fictionalized version of Davidson’s real life and will combine grounded storytelling with absurd elements. [Source: TV Line]
One Winter
Julian Dennison, Minnie Driver, James Rolleston and Erana James will star in the Paul Middleditch and Hamish Bennett-directed coming-of-age story “One Winter”.  Filming begins this summer in New Zealand.
The story is set in New Zealand in 1981, when the arrival of the South African rugby team sets off nationwide protests against apartheid and racism. Josh Waaka (Dennison), a 17-year-old of mixed race, is suddenly forced to stand up for himself. [Source: THR]
Black Flies
Mike Tyson, Michael Pitt and Katherine Waterston will join Sean Penn and Tye Sheridan in Jean-Stephane Sauvaire’s thriller “Black Flies” based on the novel by Shannon Burke.  Burke, Ben Mac Brown and Ryan King wrote the script
The story is set in the world of New York City paramedics and explores the toll the job inflicts on their lives. Sheridan is playing a first-year medic who hits the streets driving an ambulance with a grizzled vet (Penn). [Source: THR]
Hamlet
Riz Ahmed and filmmaker Aneil Karia (“Surge”) are teaming for a modern London-set adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” for Left-Handed Films.  Karia is set to direct from a script by Michael Lesslie.  
Ahmed’s Hamlet is part of a wealthy British Indian family, who starts to question his relatives’ morality and his own sanity after encountering his father’s ghost. Morfydd Clark and Joe Alywn also star as Ophelia and Laertes respectively. [Source: Deadline]
