Liev Schreiber will play tennis coach Paul Cohen, a famed instructor who worked with John McEnroe and Pete Sampras, in the upcoming “King Richard” for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Reinaldo Marcus Green is directing the story of Richard Williams (Will Smith), the father of tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams. Saniyya Syndey, Demi Singleton, Aunjanue Ellis and Jon Bernthal also star in the film penned by Zach Baylin. [Source: THR]

Sophia Bush has signed on for the title role in the CBS drama pilot “Good Sam” about a talented yet stifled heart surgeon who embraces her leadership role after her renowned and pompous boss falls into a coma. When he awakens and wants to resume surgery, however, it falls to her to supervise this overbearing blowhard who never acknowledged her talents – and also happens to be her father. [Source: Variety]

Frank of Ireland
Brian and Domhnall Gleeson are teaming for comedy series “Frank of Ireland” for Channel 4 and Amazon. The brothers are co-writing and executive producing the six-episode half-hour show with Michael Moloney.

Brian will star as Frank Marron, a 32-year-old misanthropic, narcissistic, fantasist in arrested development who thinks the world owes him something and lives in Dublin with his mother Mary (Pom Boyd). Filming just began in Belfast and Dublin. [Source: THR]

The Equalizer
Lorraine Toussaint (“Your Honor”) has joined the pilot for “The Equalizer” reboot at CBS. Toussaint joins previously announced series lead Queen Latifah and recently announced Liza Lapira.

In the reimagined version, Latifah stars as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. Toussaint will star as Frieda ‘Aunty Fry’ Lascombe, Robyn’s aunt – a woman with undeniable wisdom and is a truth-teller who tends to be a wary optimist. [Source: Variety]
