Scapegoat
Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson is set to star in “Hereditary” and “Midsommar” director Ari Aster’s new film “Scapegoat” at A24. Plot details are unavailable, but Lars Knudsen is producing.

Johansson just wrapped production on Mike Flanagan’s new “The Exorcist,” is about to start working on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman Part II”. Filming aims to begin later this year. [Source: Variety]

The Return Of Stanley Atwell
Damian Lewis will join Ella Purnell and Nicholas Galitzine in Brian Welsh’s thriller “The Return Of Stanley Atwell” which wrapped filming in the UK and Malta last week after nearly two months. Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh created the original story.

Galitzine plays Stanley Atwell, the presumed dead son and heir to Lord Atwell’s title and fortune, who unexpectedly returns to the family estate having escaped a decade of mysterious captivity. Atwell’s shocking reappearance causes chaos as he finds his sister Beatrice fighting to claim his inheritance, whilst close friend Pamela (Purnell) manipulates his puzzling return in a bid to seize control. The Girl Who Was Plugged In
Sophie Thatcher (“Companion,” “Yellowjackets”) has scored dual lead roles in “The Babadook” and “The Nightingale” filmmaker Jennifer Kent’s new sci-fi film “The Girl Who Was Plugged In”. Filming begins mid-November in Australia.

Kent has also written the screenplay which is adapted from a 1973 Hugo Award-winning science fiction novella by American writer James Tiptree Jr. The surreal dystopian tale revolves around a disfigured, suicidal young woman who is hired by a mega tech corporation to virtually operate a beautiful but brainless ‘flesh body’ called Delphi whose sole purpose is to influence the masses and sell productss. Last Dance
Oscar winner Adrien Brody, Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler and Emmy winner Ben Platt will star in Brazilian filmmaker and Karim Aïnouz’s father-daughter story “Last Dance”. Zegler will sing original music in the film.

Emily Ziff Griffin wrote the screenplay based on her 2021 autobiographical New Yorker article. Brody plays a celebrated Broadway composer dying of AIDS who invites his daughter Emma (Zegler) on a gay cruise through the Caribbean in 1991. Emma, the only straight woman on board, experiences unexpected first love with a young crew member. [Source: Deadline]

Eddie Redmayne and Miles Teller are in talks to star in “The Bourne Identity” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” director Doug Liman’s new spy thriller “Star One”. David Coggeshall penned the script while P.J. van Sandwijk, William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein produce.

The story follows two wildly mismatched CIA agents, the first daring and charismatic (Teller), and the other, a strait-laced strategist (Redmayne), who must work together to execute a top-secret mission: a treacherous journey across thousands of miles of enemy territory to covertly deliver arms. Starman
Oscar winner Brendan Fraser is set to star in the cosmic sci-fi thriller “Starman” from Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Wakely. Eddie Vaisman and Rebecca Graham produce, and David S. Goyer executive produces.

Fraser will portray visionary technologist Tom Adams, who launches a historic expedition to Mars. But when unforeseen events find him millions of miles from Earth, his mission becomes an unexpected and urgent race against time, driven not by survival alone but by love. [Source: Deadline]
