The Bluff
Zoe Saldana is set to star in “The Bluff,” an action-survival feature from Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO production company label. Previously set up at Netflix, the project has now shifted to Amazon Prime.

Set in the 19th century Caribbean, pic will follow a former female pirate (SaldaƱa) who must protect her family when the mysterious sins of her past catch up to her. Frank E. Flowers (“Haven”) is directing from a script by Joe Ballarini. [Source: Deadline]

Thanksgiving
Former “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Patrick Dempsey is in talks to star in Eli Roth’s slasher horror movie “Thanksgiving” at Spyglass. The project is based on the faux trailer that Roth made 16 years ago for “Grindhouse” and shooting begins in March in Toronto.

Dempsey would play the sheriff of a small Massachusetts town where a killer in a pilgrim costume is creating a Thanksgiving carving board out of the town’s inhabitants. Roth is directing and producing. [Source: THR]

Mean Girls
The new film adaptation of the “Mean Girls” stage musical will see original 2004 film cast members Tina Fey and Tim Meadows returning – likely reprising their roles of math teacher Ms. Norbury and principal Duvall respectively.

Fey writes and produces the new take which begins filming on March 6th and will star Renee Rapp, Angourie Rice, Jaquel Spivey and Auli’i Cravalho. Fey will soon hit the road with Amy Poehler on their upcoming Restless Leg Tour. [Source: Vanity Fair]

Relay
Riz Ahmed and Lily James will star in “Hell or High Water” and “Starred Up” director David Mackenzie’s contemporary thriller “Relay” which he directs from a script he wrote with Justin Piasecki. Filming begins in New York and New Jersey in April.

Ahmed plays a ‘fixer’ whose specialty is brokering major payoffs between corrupt corporations and the individuals who threaten to ruin them. He’s careful to keep his identity hidden until a potential client (James) seeks his protection in order to stay alive. [Source: The Wrap]

Midair
Golden Globe nominee Aaron Eckhart will lead the action thriller “Midair” for Bee Holder and Concourse. Filming begins this July with Magnus Martens (“SAS: Red Notice”) directing from a script by George Mahaffey.

After flying rogue missions for the CIA, a cargo pilot’s flight goes haywire when he’s stalked, in midair, by a terrorist who forces him to overcome a series of deadly obstacles. To outsmart him and keep everyone alive, he must outmaneuver and uncover the truth. [Source: Deadline]
