“In the Heights” film lead Anthony Ramos will star in the sci-fi comedy “Distant” for Amblin Entertainment. Will Speck and Josh Gordon (“Blades of Glory”) helm from a script by Spenser Cohen. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger and Anna Halberg will produce.

The story follows an asteroid miner who, after crash-landing on an alien planet, must contend with the challenges of his new surroundings, while making his way across the harsh terrain to the only other survivor — a woman who is trapped in her escape pod. [Source: Variety]

Ellen Wong (“Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World”) has joined the Michael Caine and Aubrey Plaza-led comedy “Best Sellers”. Caine plays a has-been author on a wild book tour with his young editor (Plaza) as she’s trying to save her father’s boutique publishing house. Wong will play the role of Rachel Spence. Nick Stahl, Robert Patrick, Jake Weber, Kelli Garner and Tony Hale will star in Vincent Grashaw’s forthcoming psychological horror feature “What Josiah Saw” which recently wrapped filming in Oklahoma. Joan Cusack and Mary Holland have scored recurring roles on the second season of Amazon’s psychological thriller drama series “Homecoming”. Danish actor Claes Bang (“The Square,” “Dracula”) has joined the cast of Robert Eggers’ new film “The Northman” for New Regency.
