Night Books
Krysten Ritter, Winslow Fegley and Lidya Jewett are set to star in the family horror feature”Night Books” at Netflix and Ghost House Pictures. David Yarovesky (“Brightburn”) directs while Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert will produce. Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis will adapt the script.
Based on the J.A. White horror-fantasy children’s books, the story follows Alex (Fegley), a boy obsessed with scary stories, who is imprisoned by an evil young witch (Ritter) in her contemporary New York City apartment. He meets Yasmin (Jewett), who is also trapped there, and learns he must tell a new scary story every night in order to stay alive. [Source: Dread Central]
Delia’s Gone
Stephan James, Marisa Tomei, and Paul Walter Hauser have signed on to star in Robert Budreau’s indie drama “Delia’s Gone” currently filming in Ontario. Based on Michael Hamblin’s short story “Caged Bird Sing,” the story follows a convicted man on the spectrum (James) who escapes his care home and embarks on a journey of violence and redemption to find the truth about his sister, Delia. Man from Toronto
Jasmine Mathews (“Sweetbitter,” “The Tomorrow War”) will join Kevin Hart, Woody Harrelson, Kaley Cuoco and Melanie Liburd in the Patrick Hughes-directed action-comedy “Man From Toronto” at Sony Pictures.
The story revolves around a case of mistaken identity after the world’s deadliest assassin (Harrelson) and a stranger (Hart) run into each other at an Airbnb. Chaos soon ensues as the assassin’s world comes crashing down on Hart’s character. The film opens September next year. [Source: Deadline]
Slumberland
Kyle Chandler is joining the cast of the Francis Lawrence-directed Netflix feature “Slumberland” from Chernin Entertainment. Jason Momoa, Chris O’Dowd and Marlow Barkley are on board to star in the project inspired by Winsor McCay’s “Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland” books. [Source: Outlook]
