Fried Green Tomatoes
Reba McEntire is attached to star in and executive produce an NBC TV series contemporary-set adaptation of the novel “Fried Green Tomatoes”. Norman Lear is executive producing the hour-long drama that will focus on the lives of descendants from the original work.

When present-day Idgie Threadgoode (McEntire) returns to Whistle Stop after a decade away, she must wrestle with a changed town, estranged daughter, faltering cafe and life-changing secret. Jennifer Cecil is attached to write and executive produce. [Source: Variety]

Black Adam
Sarah Shahi (“Person of Interest”) has joined Dwayne Johnson in the superhero film “Black Adam” at New Line. Shahi will play a university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in the fictional nation of Kahndaq.

She joins the previously cast Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher. Jaume Collet-Serra helms the project. [Source: The Playlist]

Dollhouse
Selena Gomez is reportedly producing and eyeing the starring role in STXfilms’ “Black Swan”-esque psychological thriller movie “Dollhouse” which is set against the New York elite fashion scene. Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen will produce. Newcomer Michael Paisley wrote the screenplay, but plot specifics are under wraps and no director is yet attached. [Source: Variety]

Don’t Worry Darling
Nick Kroll, Sydney Chandler, Douglas Smith, Kate Berlant, and Asif Ali have joined the cast of Olivia Wilde’s thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” at New Line. Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, KiKi Layne, Gemma Chan and Wilde lead the cast.

The story is set in an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert and Katie Silberman wrote the screenplay based on a spec script by Shane and Carey Van Dyke. Catherine Hardwicke is executive producing. [Source: Deadline]
