Nocebo
Eva Green, Mark Strong and Chai Fonacier have joined “Vivarium” filmmaker Lorcan Finnegan’s new psychological thriller “Nocebo”. Garret Shanley penned he script which unfolds across London and Manila. Shooting is now underway in Ireland.
Green plays a fashion designer who is suffering from a mysterious illness that confounds her doctors and frustrates her husband (Strong) until help arrives in the form of a Filipino nanny who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth. [Source: Variety]
The Mothership
Oscar-winner Halle Berry has signed on to star in and executive produce the sci-fi adventure “The Mothership” at Netflix and MRC Film. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Matthew Charman (“Bridge of Spies”) wrote the script and will make his feature directorial debut.
Berry plays a woman who, one year after her husband mysteriously vanished from their rural farm, discovers an extraterrestrial object underneath their home. She and her kids embark on a race to find her husband and the truth. [Source: Deadline]
Corner Office
Jon Hamm, Danny Pudi, Sarah Gadon and Christopher Heyerdahl are set to star in the dark comedy “Corner Office” based on Swedish actor Jonas Karlsson’s existential novel “The Room”.
The story deals with an office outsider and compulsive bureaucrat (Hamm) who discovers a mysterious place of refuge – a secret room his co-workers deny exists. Oscar-winner Joachim Back will direct the indie film which is shooting in Vancouver through mid-March. [Source: THR]
The First Lady
O-T Fagbenle (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Black Widow”) will play former U.S. President Barack Obama opposite Viola Davis as Michelle Obama in the Showtime anthology series “The First Lady”.
Season one of the series is centered on Eleanor Roosevelt (Gillian Anderson), Betty Ford (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Michelle Obama (Davis) and explores their personal and political lives. Author Aaron Cooley created the series and will write and executive produce. [Source: The Live Feed]
